Attended WCA, told it was cancelled

Good evening.
My problem is probably just a symptom of the Atos/DWP chaos but I'd like some advice nonetheless.
In the ESA support group since May 2011.
June 2013 - returned an ESA50 with medical evidence.
May 2014 - Atos write to me with an appointment for a WCA. I ask for it to be recorded and alter the date so that I can be accompanied.
June 2nd - send 31 pages of medical evidence to the DWP and Atos by special delivery.
June 9th - attend WCA, wait for 45 minutes and am then told my WCA has been cancelled. Apparently, I should have had a phone call or letter to tell me this. (Strangely, I had been getting some silent phone calls in the run up to the WCA which then stopped - paranoid, moi?!)
June 15th - send a letter recorded delivery to the DWP asking for an explanation of where I stand.
I've still had no response. I don't know whether to assume my evidence caused the cancellation of the WCA but I still haven't had a response and my benefits are still being paid.
Any ideas what may be happening?

If your appointment was supposed to have been cancelled prior to your arriving and they thought they had written or phoned you about it then the most likeliest reason would be that they have been able to make a recommendation based on your form and the evidence attached. It is still possible that it was because there was no recording equipment available or the assessor for your claim was not available, but I would expect you to have been told that on the day.
If you are able to do so or get someone to do it on your behalf, then the simplest solution is for you to ring ATOS about what is happening, there should be a number on the letter you received from them.
You can try the DWP, but unless the file has been recorded by them as having been returned they will not be able to give you an update and will tell you to ring ATOS.
