PIP Assessments - Centres & Appointments

I have just been told by ATOS that I am entering another queue after six months - for an assessment appointment.
ATOS would not tell me which PIP assessment centres are nearest to me. They told me just to wait for a system-generated appointment, and then ask for a change if the venue does not suit.

I feel a total lack of control over the process. ATOS said that the DWP guidelines for PIP interviews are so sadistic [for PIP applicants may conceivably be even more fragile than those for ESA], that:
ESA centres cannot be used for PIP assessments; and
a PIP centre is valid as long as it is no more than 90 mins travel time distant [is that bus or train?].

I live in London and ATOS actually mentioned Watford in passing!!

Can anyone advise what I should do now as ATOS has told me just to wait more?

I mean, how do I know that a centre which is suitable has less of a queue, but because everything is system-generated, I may conceivably be given something else which I reject, and even more waiting then beckons.

Is there a way of finding out PIP assessment centres near to me? In light of my concerns do you have any tips on what I should do now? Or is it just a case of waiting?

Many thanks

A

I am afraid you have little option at the moment as no appointment has been made.

If you have problems travelling then you could write to ATOS with those restrictions in the hope that they will use a location that is within your capability, however this is entirely at their discretion. If you have to move the appointment because it is not suitable then it will likely count against your two appointments and you will have to attend the new one or risk having your claim closed.

You can try involving your MP
