I had a home assessment due today at 11.30. Among physical disabilities I also suffer from depression and anxiety and have been anxious and sleepless almost for several days. At 8.20 this morning I had a call from DWP to say they had no HP available so my assessment was cancelled. It can't now take place until 15th January. I have been told that this can happen and more than once but I thought I was safe once it got to today. I am very upset and disappointed about this and have to go through all the anxiety again next week, with the added worry that it might be cancelled again. Surely they Capita should have enough assessors so they don't do this to already anxious people.

Hi,
Welcome to Benefits and Work
If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.
This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ :
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I am sorry to hear of this, and of the upset and distress that the cancellation has caused.
I am afraid that this is an all to often occurance with Capita & ATOS, and we have heard from many members who have had their face to face assessment cancelled at the last minute.
As seen in our recent : News Article, there are massive backlogs with PIP.
This seems to be mainly down to the Assessment Providers not having adequate staffing levels or facilities to cope with the demand.
You could complain to Capita :

And/Or your M.P. : Contacting your MP
Although M.P.'s are well aware of the shambles with PIP Assessments, it has been raised in Parliament on several occasions.

Second appointment was cancelled this morning and after i said it was affecting my health I was told it would be passed to the acceleration unit for them to look at. Anyone heard of this before?

It is not a phrase I have heard of before, perhaps they have started to take some action over the large number of appointments they have been cancelling.

It appears now that I am not having an assessment until 29th January. I pointed out that part of my condition is anxiety and depression and repeatedly cancelling appointments is making me even more ill to the point where I have made a GP appointment to up my medication as I am so stressed. When I get over stressed my balance gets even worse. I pointed all this out to whoever phoned me and eventually she said she would pass my notes to the acceleration team. Anyone any idea what this is please?
