Drs letter or consultant was created by jessiedog123
I am about to fill in the frm to change from DLA to PIP.I have fibromyalgeia and have been receiving DLA for approx 8 years. My question/problem id that my consultants supporting letter is from my original application. Do i need to contact my original consultant and if so will they be prepared to do that, as my care since diagnosis has being GP led.Or can i re submit original evidence.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

In ideal world having up to date medical evidence is what you everyone should be aiming for but the world is far from ideal.
If you have not seen your Consultant for many years then I think it unlikely that they will be willing to provide you with any evidence without their seeing you again (they may not even then!), so you should start by seeing your GP to see what support they might give you.
If you are unable to provide anything new then it may not be a lost cause, many claimants are "parked" by the NHS because there is no additional treatment that can be provided, as long as you can show that your condition is the same or worse then it should still be possible to use the last letters that you had.
Please make sure that you make use of our PIP Claim guide.

You need to find out whether they will support you in the first placed, GP's are not required to provide evidence to the claimant in regard to benefits, even if they do they may want to charge you for doing so. A letter of support is a good term to use when you discuss it with them.
If they will, then you need to understand to what extent. They may be prepared to provide a letter primarily based on your medical notes, or they may be prepared to provide one that is more specific to your problems and your PIP claim, this latter option is better for you if offered.
Please make sure that you read the letter carefully before sending it in with your form, whilst most GPs, who write a letter for a claimant, do their best to make it of assistance to their claim, this is not always achieved, a bad letter can often be worse than not having one at all.
