hi
Could you please answer a query about ESA ( IR) I understand that you can have a maximum of £16000 to qualify. If you have less savings where does the income side come into calculating whether you get it or not ? I have DLA and industrial disablement benefit as income also.paid each 4 weeks and each week respectively....
Thank you

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Debbie,
The asset situation is that you (and any partner who lives with you) can have savings/assets of less than £6000 and this does not affect IR ESA at all. Assets of between £6000 and £16000 would see ESA reduced pro rata.
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
There are separate rules regarding income (and working hours of any partner).
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)

Hi D,
Your IIDB will be classed as household income for the purposes of the IR ESA means test, your DLA will not.
