I don't want to be re-assessed was created by grandmabagpuss
I've been in the esa support group (cb) right from the beginning (2010) with two f2f medicals during this time , which I found incredibly stressful. I have chronic bowel disease, and stress can be very messy. At some point this year I am due for a re-assessment - presumably by the new regime. I'm actually getting quite close to retirement age (next year) and I'm thinking along the lines of just not completing the esa50? How would this be viewed? The other thing is that even if I was found fit to work in any capacity, I don't want to now. I am completely de-skilled, and don't want to expose myself to any situations that would make me anxious.

There are several issues with this strategy. There are circumstances where your failing to return the ESA50 will not result in the assessment process being terminated and even if it is, as this is classed as a technical failure it would create issues if for any reason you needed to re-apply.

I would obviously recommend that you don't go down this route, but if you cannot face the prospect of another assessment then you should write to the DWP formally closing your claim, that way you will avoid any on-going correspondence with the DWP which may cause you more stress and worry than the assessment would.

Hi
First of all I would say that there maybe a delay in your next assessment due to the change over and backlog of new claims you did not say in your post if you knew your next assessment date.

Next thing you may need to consider is if you don't bother filling in your ESA form you will be removed from ESA, if you have a working partner will they be able to support you ? as you will either have to claim JSA or are you thinking of not claiming altogether? again you may wish to consider with regards to IN contributions that effect your state pension.

This whole sorry mess of those already known to DWP as "long term" sick and unlikely to ever return to the work place but still have to undergo constant reviews is wrong maybe they need to leave a longer time scale between reviews.

Please try not to panic with regards to reassessment as you have been in support since 2010 (5years) all you need to show is no improvement in your condition the DWP have already placed you in Support Group and would have a hard time explaining why they move you out of support after such a long time.
