I'm sure I've read somewhere that I have to be assessed by a GP for my ATOS PIP assessment as I have a pituitary tumour. Please can anyone advise me whether I'm right or not? Many thanks.

The PIP legislation does not require this, it is possible that it is part of the contract between the DWP and the current two Assessment Providers details this requirement, but I think a claimant would have problems requiring an AP to ensure that this was the case, the law in this area is geared to redress after the fact i.e. that the assessor was not qualified to properly assess a claimant with these problems, rather than is not qualified on the day of the assessment.

There may also be issues as to whether the those operationally involved in the assessment process are aware of these requirements (if they exist) and therefore there has to be a question on whether the claimant could have a meaningful conversation about the subject with them.

Finally, I doubt very much whether a claimants view that the assessor was not qualified to assess them would be accepted as Good Cause for failing to participate in an assessment.
