DLA Renewal was created by ldwilliams
Hello

I assumed that I would have to apply for PIP this year, but have Just recieved an application to reapply for DLA.

Quote "your award of DLA ends on 5-9-15. But you can claim DLA again. We are sending you this form to claim again with this letter"
I live in the RH postcode

Anyone have any info or advise on this please?

Hi b,

See :

"From 22 June 2015 :"

The PIP reassessment areas extend to postcodes beginning: BA; BH, BN; BR; CR; CT; DT; E; EC; GU; HP; IG; LU; ME; OX; RG; RH; SE; SG; SW; WC"

From : This News Article.

Even though your Postcode will be "PIP Active" from 22/06/15 as the DWP are allowing a 20 weeks lead time before the date that your fixed term DLA Award ends, this means that you have received your renewal forms at the right time. (circa April 2015)

So you are not in an Active PIP Postcode Area now, hence the DLA Renewal.

e.g. If your fixed period DLA award was due to end circa December/January 2015/16, as you would have received the renewal forms 20 weeks before, if this was after 22/06/15, you would have received PIP renewal invitation forms rather than DLA.

The rules are simple, if you receive a DLA Renewal, you will be reassessed under DLA criteria, so fill them in and return them in good time before your DLA award ends.

Failure to do so will result in your DLA ceasing, and you having to make a totally fresh claim for PIP from scratch.

There will be no going back to DLA.

See : When should I send my renewal form back?

There is also guidance on DLA Renewals under the heading DLA Changes and Renewals on : This page.

Good luck !!

Just to add to the advice already given.

In addition to returning your forms before your current award ends, we recommend you use a tracked service so you can confirm delivery and that you contact the DWP to confirm receipt.

We have had a number of members fail to take these precautions and they have lost their DLA award and had no choice but to claim PIP from scratch, which of course means that they receive no payments until an award is made.

Many thanks Both of you for clearing that up for me, i now understand, :)

I am lucky in that i have a GP's appt next week, my main consultants appt in 2 weeks time and have just had my first assessment from the CNRT Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team.
I still have my photocopies of my original claim from 2 years ago, have already downloaded your renewal pdf, so I am reasonably ontop of things. The only thing that I have slipped up on was the timescale - I was ready to photcopy all of my medical letters next month, but will of course now bring that forward.
The only thing that I have forgotten was to inform them of a new diagnosis, totally slipped my mind to do so! CIDP - Chronic Inflamatory Demyelinamating Polyneuropathy.
I guess that I am as prepared as I am ever going to be
