Veterans Medical was created by Chris
Hi All, I am a Veteran and am in receipt of a War Pension at 60%. September last year I put in a claim (to Veterans Agency) to try and get my rate changed. My condition had worsened and is degenerative, that was my reason for putting my claim in. In November of last year I had the medical at home by an ATOS Doctor.
I read in your last email that our area is going to be moving to PIP.
My question is; does or could the medical I had in November 2014 by an ATOS Doctor be used for the medical for the move from DLA to PIP and should I mention that when the invitation arrives for PIP?
Thank you and I look forward to your answer.
Regards
Chris

You can certainly use this latest medical report as evidence to any transfer to PIP, but unless it specifically addresses the PIP Descriptors it is unlikely that it will remove the need for an assessment.

I had ATOS medical for WP and two/three months later ATOS medical for PIP. I asked same question and was told different benefit requires new assessment.

Thank you for the replies. You would think DWP was the umbrella for all. Veterans Agency claim to be part of DWP.
If I am receiving these benefits from the Veterans Agency, Surely if PIP diagnosed me Negatively would that negate my Medical by ATOS and cause me to lose my benefits from Veterans Agency?
Is there a part on this forum for War Disablement Pensioners, where someone with the knowledge to help us? As it gets a bit grey between us and Civilian disabled people and the differing names given to individual benefits?

I am sorry but we cannot advise on veteran benefits as it is not an area that we support on the forum try contacting the British Legion, they will either be able to support you directly they will be able to put you in touch with those who can.
Different benefits have different criteria, for example it is perfectly possible to be in the Support Group for ESA and have no entitlement to PIP or vice versa, so you should not assume that if you failed in your claim for PIP that it will have any impact on the benefits that you are already receiving.
