Work focused interview when ESA Support

I have been sent a letter asking me to attend a Work-focused interview at JobCentre (as per the previous topic on this subject)

I am on ESA in Support group for severe anxiety/depression.

I live in East Midlands, so it does look as if these letters are going out in the Midlands area.

Tried to ring DWP this morning but call centre is log-jammed.

Another case of the dreaded brown envelope!

I'd be interested to know whether this is a general trawl of the Support group or whether they are picking people out somehow e.g. those with mental health issues?

Hi PDA,

We are not aware that any certain "Type" of SG recipients are being targeted with these letters.

I will refer you back to the post that Gordon has written summarising information regarding this scenario in :

The Spotlight Area.

As advised, you can challenge them to ascertain exactly "what" the interview is pertaining to, and whether it is Mandatory or Voluntary.

You can then make an informed decision on whether to attend.

Further information can be seen in : This Topic and from the links included therein to other associated topics.

You will see more detail with respect to DWP Decision Makers Guidance and ESA Regulations on not having to take part in WRA/WFI if in The SG, and " Reasonable Adjustments" for disabled people as covered under The Equality Act 2010. (EA2010)

I checked my paper work. What is interesting is that the invitation to the Work-related interview at the local job centre has been sent exactly a year to the day from the date that my ESA was awarded and I was placed in the Support Group.

Coincidence?

Cant help on the issue at hand, not up to speed on support group issues, but I can offer one littel bit of my own experience, I was put with a4e (on wrag) although I figured I should have been in support group but did not have the fight left in me to push that far.
I can hand on heart say that (at least my local one) a4e have bent over backwards to be helpful, supportive and have made a difference in my life for the better.
I still have a long, long way to go, but they are not pushing me, not forcing me, just supporting me.
