cares underlying was created by jan
Hi Iv applied for carers allowance for my partner and he claims for me. Our son lives with us and is 20 so I know we cant get severe sdp. My question is will we see an increase in our benefits , both on esa long term, child tax credits for 12 year old daughter and enhanced care DLA.

Thank you.x

I am afraid it will depend on the type of ESA you are receiving and you personal circumstances.

If your ESA is Contribution Based then it Is classed as an overlapping benefit with Carers Allowance, so you would receive no extra money, if it is Income Related then the CA will be paid but the same amount will be deducted from your ESA, however, you will also receive the Carers Premium as an additional payment.

You can get a more accurate picture by using one of the online benefit calculators.
