PIP Request for F2F @ Home was created by Bill
Hello mods,

We would like a home visit for our F2F and know we need to ask our GP for a letter explaining why. We have ATOS covering our area so, at which point in the process do we ask them for the home visit?

Is it when we do the PIP 1 on the phone, or when we hear back from them with a date to go to one of their centers?

Our GP only works 2 days a week now, and it takes up to 2 weeks to get an appointment with him so we could be strapped for time if we dont do it right. Can you advise please?

Great job guys, thanks for everything you do.

Hi B,

I would certainly mention the fact that you require a Home Assessment in the PIP 1 phone call.

You should then back this up with a written request attached to a letter of support that you may obtain from your G.P. and include that with The PIP 2 Form.

An Assessor is supposed to look at The PIP 2 and decide whether a Home Assessment is necessary before an appointment for one is made.

However, this does not always happen and many claimants have to fight their case for a Home Assessment after they have received an appointment for a face to face at one of ATOS's Assessment Centres.

You would need to go into detail regarding how your limitations/disabilities restrict you from travelling to/from an assessment, giving reasons.

ATOS are most reluctant to offer Home Assessments, so be prepared for them not being overly willing to provide one.

PIP Assessment Providers are supposed to make Reasonable Adjustments for disabled people, which would include a Home Assessment if applicable.

Even though : This Topic is with regards to challenging Capita (Who do carry out far more Home Assessments than ATOS) in their refusal to provide a Home Assessment, the information regarding Reasonable Adjustments and The Equality Act 2010 is still pertinent to any Public Service Provider, including ATOS.
