DLA - PIP was created by spasm
Hi Benefits and work team,

I am writing with a question about my son. He has just had a letter from the DLA to say that the process for the cross over from DLA to PIP is staring for him.

My son has great difficulty in talking on the phone as regards anything. He is able to confirm his identity and personal details, but that is about it. I will be making the initial phone call for him to start the conversation. He will then confirm who he is etc. My question is - can I ask for a form for him to apply as he would not be able to answer the questions that were put to him about his disability and how it effects his daily living over the phone.

Thank you for your time,

Sarah (spasms wife)

Providing you explain why you are making the call and that your son cannot, then there should be no problem with you doing this.

Hi Sarah,

The form that is completed over the phone, the PIP1, takes only basic details. The PIP2 will then be sent in the post and it is this that needs completing in depth.

Although it should be possible to request a PIP1 is sent to the claimant I cannot advise doing this as the members who have done so have had considerable problems with the form actually being sent out.

If you have a look at our PIP guide you will see what information is needed for the PIP1. It should be possible for your son to confirm who he is and then let you take over supplying the initial information.

Thank you very much for the speedy reply. I am going to take on board your advice and not ask for the PIP1 to be sent out. I will sort out any information they ask for using the source you suggested if I can find it, as I have difficulty navigating sites. If they delayed or caused hassle when sending out a form that would just throw my son completely.
Thank you again,
Sarah

Can one have the right to request copy of completed PIP 2 form (where it was not possible to have photocopied the bulk of the pages).
DWP anyhow refuses to acknowledge two recorded delivery letters seeking confirmation that all the medical evidence was supplied to Atos.
