Hi
Can you help? my daughter had PIP for 2yrs & on reassessment she was turned down, she has Bipolar & acute depression, we are appealing against the decision as nothing has changed with her condition, it says on the form that she should attend but due to her mental state this could cause a severe distress to her which she would take weeks to get over.
Should I explain this in a letter added to the appeal form or do you think this would go against her?

Hi Shirley and welcome to the forum. On the assumption that you are also new to the site this link should help you find your way around the site.

Welcome to Benefits and Work

This kind of situation always poses a conundrum. Appeal tribunals in person are always more successful than paper appeals. However, that must be set against the fact that appearing in person can make it difficult to score points on some of the descriptors. In the end, it is a decision that only you can make. If you did not use our guides when making the original application you might find it helpful to have a look at them now and see exactly how/where you think points should have been awarded.
