moving from working tax credits to esa

Hi I am currently self employed and in receipt of working tax credits. My health has deteriorated substantially and I am struggling to function on a day to day basis. I am scared about how I'll cope financially once my tax credits are cut and I'm awaiting assessment for esa.

I'm guessing others have been though the process I am about to go through. If you have, I'd so appreciate your thoughts/ suggestions etc on this matter.

Thanks
Has

Hi Has

You should be able to claim child tax credits instead of working tax credits. I don't know if you have already ceased trading but if or when you do you should get your accounts up to date as soon as possible as all means tested benefits will want them.

Thank you Foss!

Any idea how long the payments will take to process once I apply for esa?

Hi H,

See my response regarding ESA, : Here.

Although foss may wish to respond further to your query when he is next on-line, we do not normally deal with Tax Credits queries.

It takes us all their time to keep up with the relentless stream of queries on DLA, ESA and PIP ! :)
