PIP Medical 30 miles away! was created by gaz111
Hi everyone,

Just had a letter through for my PIP medical and they have made me an appointment in Chelmsford which is about 30 miles from me. I live in London and there are closer centres.

I'm quite annoyed and stressed about this as from my PIP form they know I have trouble travelling and I just feel they have done it to test me or something.

I don't know wether to see if I can change it or just get a taxi and go as I want to get it over with.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

There are several posts on the forum from people who have been given inappropriate appointments eiher at a centre which is not the nearest or at a ridiculous time or both.

You can ring and ask for an appointment at the nearest centre. However you can only cancel once. If you miss the second appointment without very, very good reason you will be deemed a no show and your claim cancelled.
Many people on the forum have had no trouble getting a more convenient location.
It does seem they do this deliberately to test people.

I will ring on Monday to see if they can change it, I think it's out of order making me travel 43 miles to a centre when there are centres so much more closer in London. Given the problems my claim is for I think it's unfair.

It's actually over 40 miles away, there is a centre about 3 miles from me and most of the London ones are within 10 miles so god knows why they are sending me 40 miles away. If this is a sign of the chaos to come then God help me.
