Hello

I am rather confused and worried about your latest newsletter which states that ESA re-assessments have restarted. I live in north London.

My original re-assessment date was September 2015. After your information about delays, I rang DWP and was told my date was now September 2017.

What I am worried about is whether that date is fixed, or whether Maximus can send that huge questionnaire anytime between now and then.

Does anyone know about this? There must be loads of you wondering about this. I can't fill in that form in the time they allow, so I wanted the chance, when I know more or less when it is due, to complete it question by question over many weeks, based on my current health. Now I don't know what to do or whether to forget about it.

Your newsletter suggests I shouldn't forget about it. Today I rang the DWP again and they insisted that the re-assessment would not happen before 2017 under any circumstances. When I asked why, when I was awarded ESA support group for 2 years, she said they must have reviewed my case and decided it merited a longer award. I don't believe this at all!

When I asked about a backlog being the reason, she said no.

I don't believe this feedback.

What is the truth here and should I be preparing? Grateful for s y feedback please.

BTW, I have seen their latest ESA50 and the minute space now allowed for replies seems to be a direct riposte to all, all the advice you give in terms of providing full responses to each category. It is literally unbelievable and ESA50 certainly comes from another planet.

Thank you

A

If the date on the DWP computer system is still showing as 2017 then it is unlikely that the DWP will re-assess you before then, but this date is not defined as part of your award so the DWP can, if they choose, re-assess you at any time, but I think it unlikely it will be early.

How does all this figure with the latest news that reassessments are restarting?
It would appear that they are still in some cases deferring assessments for two years.
It would be interesting to see whether any of the original 2014 two year deferrals are further deferred.

I don't think we will hear of any new deferments, any that are currently being reported were probably made some time ago, this will be particularly the case for those who have already been deferred once.

As before, these are operational decision and there may be some variations across the country.

Yet Augustus' deferral would indicate that his deferral was likely made some time around September

We are currently being reassessed after the 3 years that we where originally given. Our claim was accepted in 2013 (support group without medical) and the 3 years is up - bang on time, it is amazing how they can get this on time but struggle with some other things!

At least we had the full 3 years without any hassle in between.
