To back up the point regarding regional variation and delays: I was awarded ESA Jan 2013 with review date given at that point as start of March 2016. Hoping that stories of deferrals were true but I got a New Year's present of a new ESA form to fill in on 4 Jan 2016 so by the time they receive it and they've reassessed that means everything's been on time!

Hi b,

Yes there will be regional variations.

You may have been unlucky in not receiving a 2 year deferral as DWP stated that re-assessment were recommencing from 01/12/15 !!

See the following :

Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire

Whilst referring to the guides on this page, 2nd & 3rd links down :

The same has happened to me...3 years to the date, the form was extremely difficult to complete so I'd advise anyone who is worried to try and print out a blank form online and fill this in at home so that you are ready for the actual copy, ...and get in touch with everyone who backs up your claim and make sure they know they'll have to do this (they say don't send originals but you'll need photocopies of all up to date evidence ) .Also, my doctor charged me for a letter (first time ever) so, it's sensible to put a bit of money aside for this now. Haven't had my result yet...
