emotional unstable personality disorder was created by Stephanie P
Hi,
Does any one have any experience about pip award and emotional unstable personality disorder? My daughter applied for pip with this medical condition plus depression. We sent medical evidence and professional reports showing that she has had mental health problems all her life and has previously been diagnosed with Aspergers and ADHD. We thought we had clearly demonstrated her difficulties with communicating, expressing herself, dealing with people and social and other situations, and so on. She is already in the ESA Support Group. But DWP awarded 0 points for every descriptor.
We are doing Mandatory Reassessment and have requested a copy of her assessor's report. Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Stephanie

Sorry you are having problems - it seems that all the evidence in the world can't persuade decision makers to actually understand the problems you face.

When you get your copy of the assessor's report, go through every descriptor and make your own list of comments, disagreeing where you feel they have made a bad decision. You have your medical reports, which will back up your comments - make sure you make clear points where your knowledge and experience of your daughter's condition contradict the decision maker's comments and observations. That should not be too difficult. The fact that she is already in the ESA support group shows that at least someone understands her needs.

If you didn't use the B & W guides to help you fill in the initial application form, then read through them now and use the information provided to argue your case. Good luck

Hi Shelam,

Thank you so much for your advice. We are still awaiting the assessor's report and will pursue MR. I'm keeping the time limit in mind. I'll post again with any further developments.

Best wishes
