PIP advice needed due to family emergency

Hi i am in need of some advice regarding a pip application which has become complicated due to a sudden family emergency and subsequent sudden death of my mother.

i was most way through completing the pip 'how does your disability affect you' and had been given two extensions on health grounds. i only had the question on mobility and a few details to fill in plus i needed to check, find or chase up supporting evidence.

then i received a call to say my mother was dying and come quick. this meant going overseas. unfortunately my mum died so i will be here several weeks dealing with this with other family.

i left an incomplete signed copy of the form with a friend intending, before my mum died, to complete the other parts and send to her to send off. now this seems impossible. i would happily postpone any pip application until i return. there's just one thing. my current dla. which ironically expires 9 april, in under 2 months. they say they will stop it early. how early?

is there an allowance for exceptional circumstances like death of a family member? or have i used up all allowance already?

i do not want any part of dwp to know i am overseas. if that sounds wrong - on a visit to my mum 2 years ago i told dwp i was going, did everything as i was meant. they screwed up and failed to log info properly. they terminated benefit, treated me like a criminal. refused to talk to me. i had to live on borrowed money and food parcels on return until a third party could resolve. my health took a massive dive. so to avoid a repeat of this i believe it best to avoid any mention that i am overseas. at least not until i am back.

but i don't know what to do about pip. if i do nothing they will cancel application and stop dla. if i do something what could that be?

sorry for such a long and complicated post. any ideas appreciated.

Hi
You could try for another extension but it may be difficult to get without proof which might expose the fact you are out of the country. ie your mothers death certificate.
If you don't return the form they will close your claim and write to you.
Is the friend picking up mail?
Anyway you will have the right to appeal but again could be difficult from where you are.
Only other option is to complete form and get your friend to send it in.

cant offer any advice or personal experience, but wanted to say how very sorry I am to hear of the death of your Mother.
You have my sincere condolences & I hope you find a suitable answer to yr benefit dilemma. - Horrid to be going through both things at the same time. I wish you the very best of luck.
