The last time I renewed my ESA they sent a form to my GP and did not receive it back, and I want to make sure it is sent back this time . I have been to see my GP and he has put down on my file that I can not walk more than 20mtr as well as other things, and want to make sure it is used. Do you think I should just get a letter, he said he would do one but only hand written.Thank you annedw
Hi adw,
PIP Assessment Providers ( AP's) (ATOS/Capita)) sending PIP GP Factual Reports to one's G.P. is the exception rather than the rule, so I wouldn't rely on them doing so.
They are not legally obliged to do so, even when the claimant requests that they do.
This is why we always advise members to obtain their own evidence and to send it with The PIP 2 when returning it to the PIP AP !

annedw wrote: So is it too late to send a letter from my GP to PIP Thanks
Hi adw,
No, it may not be too late !
You could first : Contact you PIP AP , in case they have made a paper based assessment and returned your file to The DWP.
If they have, you could post copy of the supporting evidence FAO : The PIP Case Manager at the address of The Benefits Office/Centre on your most recent PIP letter.
If they haven't and still have your PIP file, you could ask them for an address to post it to.
In either case, include a covering letter stating that you wish this extra evidence to be taken into account with your PIP 2 Form.
Sending Documents to the DWP, ATOS, Capita or Maximus.
If it turns out that you have to take part in a face to face, you could also hand a copy to The PIP Assessor before the assessment starts.

They have not asked my GP for a medical report So .I have asked my GP for a letter, but it may not be ready for Thursday .Do you think I should have refused the appointment to wait for the doctors letter? .I just wanted to get it over with and only thought about the letter when I got off the phone . THANK YOU
You can ask the DWP for a copy of the report after the assessment but I would wait a week to ensure that they have received it.
I can't comment on whether you should have refused the appointment, having accepted it doing so would mean that you would have to attend and new date, whether it was convenient or not, or risk having your claim closed.
In case this appointment does not happen (it's a possibility!), you are entitled to 7 days written notice of an appointment so don't feel you have to accept a date offered over the phone if it less than a week ahead.
If the letter is not available for the assessment then you can always send a copy to the DWP office dealing with your claim, marked for the attention of the "Decision Maker".
