Does anyone know if you can claim contribution based JSA and carers allowance at the same timne please

We don't advise on JSA, but as far as I am aware JSA and CA are both classed as income replacement benefits, this means that only the one with the higher payments will actually be paid which should be the JSA.
You can still make a claim for CA and you will be classed as having an Underlying Entitlement, while you receive JSA(CB) this will be of no value, but if you are still on JSA after six months, when you are switched to Income Related JSA or Universal Credit, depending on the area, then it would allow payment of the Carers Premium.
There are also issues of you being available to work if you are claiming CA, it's not a definite "no" but you would need to potentially adjust you agreement with your JC+ office to take account of a claim.
As an alternative, if you receive CA then you can make a claim for Income Support as a Carer, assuming you meet the criteria for IS, the advantage would be immediate payment of the Carers Premium and no job search requirement.
Before making a decision get face to face advice from a trained advisor who can go through what you might receive in each scenario.
