Change to PIP or stay on DLA. was created by carrotman
My son thinks that I would be better off changing to PIP from DLA.
Which I currently get at the higher rate with mobility included.
Any thoughts ??????
Thanks James

Hi,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.

This can be done quite easily by following the instructions in this FAQ :

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

What I can say is that in the majority of cases, claimant's who currently have a HR Mobility DLA Award will find it a lot more difficult to obtain the equivalent Enhanced Rate PIP mobility Award when transferring over to PIP.

We have heard from many members who quite legitimately qualified for a HR DLA Mobility Award, who have received a reduced PIP Mobility award or no award at all.

As a current DLA recipient, if you were under 65 on 08/04/13, you will be transferred over to PIP at sometime over the next 2-3 years anyway !!

You would need to approach any transfer to PIP totally differently to that of DLA as the qualifying criteria are totally different.

If you are considering reporting a change of circumstances to instigate a review, you will be assessed for PIP and there will be no going back to DLA !!

My best advice, read through our guidance carefully before considering whether to request a review to PIP :
