part time course while on ESA support group + PIP

I am just wondering about this because i keep seeing different things on the net and i thought it would be a straight forward request but now i think, maybe not!

anyway, i am on PIP and ESA support group, and i cannot do the work i used to do anymore.
as i have always worked as a cook, my options of working in a different field are limited without re training.
( i have to add, i have other issues that would affect my capabilities to do physical work and also work where you have to sit for any length of time)

so a member of the family suggested i do a course in bookkeeping and perhaps another small one, and then work from home, not having to worry about how long to sit or stand with pain and work at my own pace, self employed.

so question is, if i do a part time course at college and home,would they consider moving me from support group in to the wrag??
i would obviously also need to find a way to fund all this,so would i be able to ask for help from dwp? (or would that be frowned upon?)

hope someone can enlighten me.

thanks

Welcome to the forum.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

There are two issues you need to deal with;

First the course there are restrictions on what courses you can do while receiving ESA, if you have a PIP Daily Living award these should be removed, see the following fact sheet for more information.

www.disabilityrightsuk.org/how-we-can-he...d-questions-students

The second issue is in regard your being able to attend the course, will your doing so contradict the limitations that have resulted in your SG award. For example; if you have Social Anxiety how will you cope with mixing with other students, if you have Mobility issues how will you get there and move from room to room?
