I was scored 3 points for washing and dressing when I should have scored 8 as I have carers come in everyday to fully wash and dress me (only scored 2 points for dressing and undressing). Many other points I think are wrong too. I'm just so devastated and emotional!!!! Oh and only awarded for 2 yrs too!!! So not eligible for a mobility car now either! HELP PLEASE?!?!

Sorry you are so upset about your award. I hope you feel able to go to the next step to obtaining the correct points etc.
The first step is to request a copy of your PIP assessment from the DWP; you can telephone for this, but follow up your phone call with a written application. Ask for the name of the person you speak to on the phone so you can mention them in your written request. You then have to apply for mandatory reconsideration. This has to be done within one month of receiving your award letter.
When you receive your copy of the assessment you are then able to go through it and pick out all the areas where you feel you should have scored points but didn't. Go to the Appeals section of the Guide,s where you will find a step by step approach to dealing with the new form.
Fill in the form, and make a point of showing at length where the errors have been made; No point in being angry or upset about it, just state where the discrepancies are clearly and concisely, and explain that you feel mistakes have been made when reaching a decision. If there isn't enough space on the form to explain fully how you disagree with the assessment, then add extra pages to the back of the form, making sure you write your name, NI number and page number on each page (1 of 2, e.g)
If you have any evidence that you omitted to send when you first applied for PIP you could send that along, though there is no guarantee that it will be considered. Then you have to wait until a new decision is reached, or the decision maker is unable to change his original award.
Please don't give up!!!

I'm afraid we cannot communicate with members via email, you can ask for your post to be made "confidential", make the request at the beginning of your post. A Moderator will then mark the content as confidential so that only you and the Moderators can see it. This will require us to edit your post!
There is an issue if you want our reply to be confidential as well as we will need to reply in your post for you to see the answer. Let us know how you want use to do this.
That said, there are very few confidential issues that the Moderating team need to know about to offer advice, for example; we rarely need to know the details of the conditions or symptoms that a member may have to provide advice, so it may be possible to ask your question in the open forum without your having to supply any information that you are uncomfortable with.

My friend was appalled when she saw what they put us through & her indignation helped fire me up to continue this PIP process. I'm rooting for you!
Shelam: Is there a form to fill in for a Mandatory Reconsideration?
There is a template letter in the Appeal submission document.
