ESA Reassessmemt Question ? was created by Sergei
Hi All,
Just received my ESA50. I should have been reassessed eighteen months ago but due to staff shortages, it was delayed. I am currently in the support group and my award was for a period of eighteen months having been migrated from IB. Having read about WCA's being delayed or cancelled if the claimant requests dual recording, my question is this, if I request a dual recording ( presuming that I am called for a face to face) and they cancel or postpone, will I continue to receive my ESA until they give me a new appointment date ?

Hi Sergei and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
ESA is actually an indefinite award, it does not officially have an end date. As long as you conform to the time-scales laid down by DWP your ESA will continue to be paid until a new decision is made.
Please make full use of our ESA guide when completing the ESA50
ESA claims and appeals
You might want to bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future. That will allow you to return with further questions/comments without having to start a new topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one place - and I hope you will find it useful too

Thanks for your quick reply Mrs H. I meant that after I was placed in the support group, I rang the DWP to find out how long before I was due for reassessment and was told eighteen months.
With regard to the dual recording question, I was thinking that given the shortage of machines, requesting one seems like an ideal way of postponing the WCA while still getting your benefits.

It may allow you to delay a new Decision due to logistical problems in providing the recording equipment, but you should be aware that you do not have a legal right to insist that the assessment is recorded and the DWP have said that a failure to record will not be accepted as Good Cause for a failure to attend or participate, so you are in the hands of Maximus being able to provide the equipment on the day.
