Hydrotherapy has been recommended to me by a consultant rheumatologist, a physiotherapist and a pain consultant as a way of managing my lifelong condition (Hypermobility Syndrome). I think I previously read somewhere on your website that therapy in a hospital doesn't count. However there are not any hydrotherapy pools at hospitals near me and so I attend one at a pool attached to a special school near me. I attend a session organised by the local Arthritis Care Group and I have to pay for it myself. If I lose my DLA and don't get PIP it is something I will have to give up and my condition will deteriorate as a result. I can't remember all the exercises myself and ordinary swimming pools are not warm enough anyway. Does this count as needing help to manage therapy?
I'm afraid Managing Treatment only applies to therapy carried out in the home.
