Hi
My sister was on low rate dla and has just been awarded standard rate pip from 17th august.
Could you advise me when i should apply for carers allowance and income support.
I went onto esa while I was waiting for her decision to be made and and dont want to cause a gap in my money.
Should I just claim now and let them work it out.

You should be able to make the claim for CA now, but the start date on your request will have to be 17 August, when the qualifying PIP award starts.

You can't make a claim for Income Support until the CA claim is accepted and again it cannot start before the 17th but can be backdated to the same day as the CA starts, you will also need to notify the DWP to close your ESA claim.
