DWP and Tax Credits was created by Cheryl
Hi I have a query which im hoping someone may be able to advise me on - I have been moved from DLA to PIP. After the assessment i finally got my letter dated 11th July on which i have been moved down from Higher rate mobiility to standard and no allowance for daily living. I have asked for a mandatory reconsideration which i posted off yesterday. However I needed to speak to the Tax Credits so I informed them that my dla had been dropped. To my surprise the lady i spoke to said that they had received information on 14th July that i was now in receipt of lower rate care component and Higher rate mobility - completely different to what i have been sent! Im not exactly sure what to do now - i called the tax credits office back and double checked and yes that is definitely what they have received. Do I ring dwp or should i just assume that the tax credits have misread it? Any advice gratefully received as im a bit confused and wouldnt have bothered with a mandatory reconsideration if I had received what TC say im getting!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I'm afraid you cannot leave it as I would expect HMRC to pay you based on the award that they have been notified about which could mean that you receive the wrong rate of TC.

Thanks Gordon but the TC said it wouldnt make any difference to the amount I receive - if I were to start employment then it would. I was thinking of maybe writing to the Tax Credits and asking for a copy of the award??

It doesn't really matter what the DWP have told HMRC, apart from it being wrong. it is what the DWP have stated in the Decision Letter to you that counts.
