Can't do it anymore

Hi all, I really need your help, I am currently sat at work virtually unable to do anything due to my disability becoming so severe over the last 2 weeks. I have 'progressive MS so being a Security Officer in a 10 floor building is so not good for me anymore What I would like to know (if anybody can help) is what the best option is, is it better for me to simply resign or wait for my employer to finish me. I know what to expect if I resign but what is the situation if my employer forces me to leave. I sincerely apologise if this is the wrong place for this topic. Many thanks for your help
