An ESA Decision to award the WRAG or SG can be made without a face 2 face assessment, primarily it will depend on the conditions that the claimant has and how detailed their ESA50 and attached evidence is.
We have seen Maximus calling some claimants to a face to face where their last one was done on paper by ATOS,

What will be will be. Still nervous about it all the ESA 50 is due shortly,so am thinking maybe I should contact Maximus to see if they have heard from the DWP.
Is this advisable. Thanks.

It can't do any harm, they only deal with what the DWP give them.

I decided to ring the ESA dept up to see when my claim form was due
The first call I was shocked apparently they have awarded me until 2018 said it was because my condition.I can only assume they got hold of my PIP decision report from last year. They have not contacted my Dr.
So I was so numb with shock .I made the same phone call hours later and got the same answer.Has any-oneelse heard of this approach before.Thanks.
