Assessments usually last an hour although they can go to a couple of hours if there is a need.

The assessor may have a background in mental health treatment but there is no legal requirement for them to do so, they will have been trained in assessing claimants with this type of problem.

If your son is unable to complete the interview then they may ask you for your input, it will depend on the assessor on the day.
