Strange ESA letter-support group notification? was created by Gateway
Hello,
I was wondering about how claimants are informed that they have been moved to ESA Support Group from WRAG following a re-assessment? If the only notification received is a letter saying you have been moved to Support Group, with the amount (ie the amount in £) of ESA awarded described as being valid from a few days ago until a couple of months in the future, does this mean that the award is somehow temporary or provisional? Is there a downside to ringing the DWP to confirm details and asking for details of one's claim on file?
Thanks very much.

If you were in the WRAG and you now have a letter saying Support Group then I think that this would be considered a Decision Letter, did it include information about how to appeal the Decision?
So Congratulations
If the "end" date on the letter is late November then don't worry about it, it's just an administrative date connected to the payment of the Christmas Bonus.
ESA is an indefinite award with regular reassessment, if you contact the DWP office that deals with your claim they should be able to tell you when your claim will be looked at again, doing so won't effect your award.

Thank you very much for your comments, Gordon. For some reason, I was expecting a clearer letter and phone call/message from the decision maker when the decision was made. Yes, the letter has a section headed 'what to do if you think this decision is wrong' which mentions appeal and mandatory reconsideration. So, fingers crossed, it looks like it might be an actual Decision Letter!
Thanks for your advice on contacting the DWP, that's useful to know.
Best wishes to you
