I know you have already addressed this matter Gordan, in ref to people losing their carer due to them reaching state pension age, however, is it worth writing to the DWP and explaining that I have serious mental health issues (which they know of), part of them being the inability to trust people. My carer of 5 years has lost the allowance as previously stated due to the receipt of a state pension, however, are you aware of the DWP being able to make special allowances in regards to this rule, if the person in need of the care can demonstrate with medical support the above.
My GP has advised me that he will write a personal letter to the DWP making it clear in his medical opinion that consistency is vital to my stability of my illness, and therefore can they make an exception in this case. My guess is that the answer will be no, but it would help me to know as at the moment I have no care at all,and may look for other avenues to fund my previous carer.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I'm sorry but their is no flexibility about this, the State Pension and Carers Allowance are classed as overlapping benefits, only the one that pays the most will be paid.
