ESA Mandatory Consideration Success was created by Bemused
Hello,
I have been on Contribution based ESA since September 2015. I am in the support group.
In June 2016 I was awarded PIP top rate support no mobility.
ESA sent me out forms to claim Severe disability premium and they also mentioned carers allowance for my son who is an adult and claims DLA.
Anyhow, they turned the income based down due to my marital home that my husband lives in and I own half of.
I live with my son this past 14 years in a different property.
I applied for a Mandatory Reconsideration on the grounds that if a relative lives in the home and is over pension credit age it cannot be taken into account.
I got a letter this morning to say they have changed their decision and have found in my favour.
However, I am a little confused as they say it will be backdated from Sept 2015 but I have been getting paid contribution based from 2015 until now and from what I have read I would only get severe disability premium from the date I was awarded PIP.
Has anyone any similar experience?
Many Thanks

There are two Premiums at issue.
The Enhanced Disability Premium, which is paid for being in the ESA Support Group, this would be payable from when you were placed in the SG (September 2015) and
The Severe Disability Premium which would be payable from when you were awarded PIP Daily Living (June 2016).
