whether to claim ESA was created by Jane
Hi,
Enquiring on behalf of a friend.
My friend has a 17 year old son who is still in full-time non-advanced education, is in receipt of PIP and still lives at home (therefore child benefit is still in payment for him). Subject to assessments etc, would he be entitled to claim ESA?
Many thanks in advance for any feedback!

I can't find anything that refers to full-time non advanced education so my assumption is that ESA is not an option.

I would suggest that your friend gets face to face advice because even if they can claim ESA I would expect them to lose the Child Benefit, so it's not a simple answer.

Thanks Gordon, I thought that might be the case. I know that you can receive ESA and be in education but that's when they are over the age of 20 and child benefit and child tax credits have stopped.
