Query, as to what other members think in my case:- was created by Peter
Good Afternoon,
Thank you for sending me the latest copy of the Newsletter, its great to see what is being done to help those like myself who are running the gauntlet of Atos or Capita to ensure we get what we really need.
However, in my transition from DLA to PiP, initially I was told that there would be no changes to what I received, that was a lie, upon the assessment for the Pip.
1st off the computers were not working, so instead of 1 hour it took more than 3 hours, by which time my stress levels were seriously high.
2ndly it was a small room, so I couldn't stretch my legs properly and that gives me a lot of problems sitting and standing.
3rdly, the assessor kept prompting me when I got into difficulties (and yet this was never mentioned in the case notes).
4th, They gave me High Rate care but took the Motobility off me even though I had been on it for the last 16years, which has really limited my movements, as walking is seriously bad with both hips and the left knee being knackered.
5th, I asked for a Mandatory reconsideration and was told it would take 6-8 weeks, the same latter word for word (including spelling mistakes) came back in less than 12 days with a different name on the bottom.
6th, At the tribunal, I was confronted by a Judge, Doctor & Care Assistant, who in my opinion were not the correct officials that should have been present, The doctor and Judge I can understand but a "Care Assistant"? Please I have more knowledge on my "Life-Long" condition than any care worker would or could ever know unless they have worked with people like myself"!!
7th, The panel wanted more information about my health and other tests that were waiting results from, so needed hospital contact, but when I enquired about this to the hospital, notes had gone astray, so no results available..
8th, I terminated the appeal as my stress was getting far too much for me, plus I had enough health problems without more appearing.
So at the end of the day, I get High Rate Care, review after 3 years, NO Mobility, but I am on EESA + Support Group, and I do get Severe Disability payments.
As for being mobile, well I had to get a car on finance which is crippling me but needs must...
Regards
