Hi, Looking for advice re child dla appeal after award unchanged in mandatory reconsideration.
I would like to know how I go about getting help from a lawyer to help me with my child's appeal. I live in Scotland.
Thanks

Take your questions out of order.
Think very carefully about using a lawyer most have no experience of the benefit system and you could end up paying a lot of money for someone who adds no value to your claim. You would be better trying to get face to face advise with trained benefit advisor do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or country.
An appeal is not significantly different from applying for DLA in the first place, you need to show that your child meets the criteria for an award, remembering that part of the test for a child is that their needs must be more than that of a child of the same age.
Have a look at our DLA claim guides for more information.

Hi Gordon
Thanks for the advice and link to a guide, I will read this. I am going to contact the NAS Welfare Rights in the morning and book an appointment for a call back. I am a member and want to ask if someone can attend the appeal with me.
Also, can you tell me how to find my message once posted without scrolling through all the messages?
thanks again
