Recommend cassette/CD recorder for assessment? was created by LindaRiver
Can anyone please recommend a brand of recorder for an assessment.
For my sisters assessment we know that either 2 identical tape cassette recorders or 2 CD recorders are required. Looking online we cannot find any (affordable) machines that have good reviews for recording.
Could any kind person who has successfully recorded their assessment please let us know which specific brand of recorder you bought. Also, did you use a separate microphone, and if so where did you get that. Many Thanks.

Linda
Other members who have recorded their assessments will comment, but in the interim have a look at Amazon they usually have a good selection and offer quick delivery.

Thank you Gordon. I have been searching extensively on Amazon and elsewhere, but only finding reviews saying the specific models do not cope with recording speech - the lower cost retro cassette decks typically don't have external mics and no sockets to connect an external microphone.
Hopefully someone will be able to tell me what model they used.
All advice very gratefully received.

Hi Linda
I had my ESA assessment at Flowers Hill in Bristol. I asked Maximus if they would provide a recording of my assessment.
The assessor had a Double Cd set up when I arrived. As soon the assessment finished I was given a copy.
They couldn't have been more helpful.
Ever Hoping

Thank you Ever Hoping for your kind reply. We have been told by Atos that we will need to provide our own equipment for a PIP assessment. But how good to hear of something going well! All the best
