Todays NHS Cyberattack could affect Benefit Claims was created by Leste
The Cyberattack today on NHS IT systems must mean that claims for ESA, PIP etc must be effected and delayed and a Major Incident has been declared because of ransomware......as requests from DWP, Maximus, ATOS concerning illnesses and disabilities cannot be answered or confirmed, as all IT and telephone systems have been closed down. Over 40 NHS Trusts in addition to GP Surgeries are affected in England and Scotland (but not in Wales as they have a different system than NHS England and Wales).

As far as I am aware the DWP have no access to NHS systems and the Assessment Providers certainly don't.

The thing is I was quering was if Maximus, Atos etc needed clarification of someone's ondition and how it affected their ADL then surely with GPs and Consultants that are unable to access their computer systems would not be able to reply back to these queries.

I am 99.9% sure that the DWP IT systems have not been affected. My local NHS trust hasn't. The DWP would have had a press release statement or answer message on their phones stating they can't access medical records but they don't have any access to NHS systems anyway. There might have been a few assessors who phoned GP surgeries to ask for further medical information and for the few surgeries affected to not be able to give that information but that's probably as far as it goes.

I doubt that would make a difference to the Assessment Providers, they are used to GPs not replying to their requests already and will carry on with the process after a reasonable wait.
