DLA to PIP Face to Face Appointment missed...advic was created by Jan
I had an appointment for Face to Face Consultation for DLA to PIP. I got the paperwork out this afternoon ready for my appointment tomorrow morning---only to find it was Yestetfay morning! This happens so much but absolutely not on purpose. I did put this down in the paperwork I submitted. I rung Capita straight away. The woman told me to ring DWP NEXT Tuesday! She said they won't have any paperwork until Capita send it back as a No-Show and my case will be closed by then. NO WAY I was waiting till Tuesday. I rung DWP immediately after Capita and explained what had happened. I explained I live alone, have No carers or anybody and this happens often accidentally. The woman told me they weren't interested in that, only the fact I didn't turn up for theirs. She told me she would put a note through but I probably wouldn't be granted another appointment.!if they didn't believe the reason I gave. I asked her 3 or 4 times to please note it isn't done on purpose but she wasn't in the least bit interested. I asked what I could do if the case was closed, could I apply again and she said No. I'm in pieces, totally distraught this has happened. Have any other members had this happen to them?

You should certainly consider pursuing an MR but the reality is that if your claim is closed then it will be very difficult to overturn it, you will need to consider having to go on to appeal, but even then I think that you will struggle.
You have been misinformed about making a new claim, you can do this immediately, or at least once you have heard about your current claim.
If you do want to pursue the matter then let us know and we will provide more information.

I've missed medicals because of my depression (I think). The DWP tend to send out a form asking why you missed the medical and why you didn't tell them in advance that you were not going to attend. You have an opportunity to enclose medical evidence supporting poor memory, or whatever you claim the problem was. Sometimes the DWP have accepted what I sent them, and on the occasion they didn't my local welfare rights officer successfully requested a mandatory reconsideration.
