How Do You Withdraw PIP Appeal? was created by Darach
Hello,
Husband no longer wishes to continue with his PIP appeal because the toll the whole process is taking on his health is too great. We are at the stage of having received a lot of paperwork from the DWP and I think we're supposed to respond. Do I need to do anything particular to withdraw his appeal or just not respond within the 4 week time limit?
Thank you so much to the people who run this website. We wouldn't have made it this far through the system by ourselves!

Contact the Tribunal Service, their phone number will be on the letter your received from them accepting the appeal.
If you change you mind then it may be possible to re-instate the appeal at a later date.

Rather than withdraw your appeal having got this far, opt for a paper based hearing. You already know the reasons for the appeal, so all you need to do is state these in full and why you disagree with the decision on each descriptor that you are challenging. The tribunal will look at your case with fresh eyes, you do not need to submit new evidence. If you have an award then the tribunal will let you know if it is in danger so that you can then withdraw your claim. Just do that , send it in and forget about it. No need to stress any more, but better to give yourself a chance even though paperbased appeals are less successful.
