I have filled in the form myself. I don't trust anyone who is working for the DWP, sorry but I just don't, as they have tried to stop me from getting help for 30 years, I'm sorry if that sounds harsh but it is the truth. My condition is ME/CFS, many doctors won't help as there is no definitive diagnosis that is accepted by the medical profession as a whole.
Thank you for your advice Gorden and Susie too!
please know it is much appreciated. I looked at all your advice and hope I have written what will be necessary for me to get help.

I have heard reports of DWP help in filling in forms where the " help" resulted in the assesment taking place at the same time

It would seem an unlikely scenario, the DWP don't do assessments and the Assessment Providers don't offer a form filling service.

My niece recently had an advisor from DWP fill in her form. She said she was really helpful and came back at the end of the whole process to check all had gone well. I was surprised as I was wary of having this for myself. I may consider it now as she got more on PIP than on DLA. Does seem odd though doesn't it?
