does the assessor go to the tribunal can you ask for them to be present

No they don't. You can ask but I would be surprised if they would agree. The Judge can require it but I doubt that they would as the panel are rarely interested in this part of the process, you also need to consider how good their memory would be 3 or 4 months after the assessment.
Remember, awards are made because the claimant has shown that they meet the criteria to score sufficient points for one, dealing with issues with the assessment report is not likely to lead to your scoring points.

Although judges have the power to summon witnesses to a hearing, their Tribunal Rules require them to use resources wisely and in proportion to the case. For this reason it is extremely unlikely for disability benefit cases - there would have to be crucial evidence required from the witness and a significant sum of money at stake.
