PIP mobility component and age 65 was created by paul webster
I am seeking clarification on the following.
Following a deterioration in health, a person already in receipt of the care component of PIP submitted a claim for the mobility component but just after her 65 birthday. Her mobility deterioration had occurred sometime before her 65th birthday. I presume that she is ineligible even though the condition predated her birthday.

They may still be able to receive the Mobility component if they can clearly show that there problems pre-date their 65th birthday. This would most likely happen if the notification of change was within three months of her birthday, but there is a lesser chance if it is within a year of it.

It may be a matter that they might have to take to appeal, as Decision Maker's often ignore the exemptions to a rule.
