ESA/DLA to PIP assessment and being in hospital was created by digitalrace
Hello
Recently I had a long stay in hospital and might have to have another admission. Am I right in thinking that while in hospital I would be exempt from any ESA/DLA to PIP assessment? If this is the case would reassessment resume after discharge?
Thank you

commited
There's nothing in the legislation for this, although being in hospital should be accepted as Good Cause for failing to attend.
Have you notified the DWP that you are in hospital, stays of more than 28 days or a total of 28 days in a given period mean that your DLA payments will be suspended.

thx Gordon.
I am not currently in hospital and was discharged end of March. I am currently going through ESA reassessment ordeal and have stated on my form that i had a 5 week stay in hospital (as there is a question requesting this information). I didn't know that I had to inform DLA that I had stay in hospital. Will my declaration of hospital stay on ESA reassessment suffice or should I also inform people at DLA?
Thanks

It's a condition of your receiving DLA that you notify the DWP if you are a hospital in-patient.
Notifying the ESA team via your ESA50 is not sufficient you need to contact the DWP office dealing with your DLA claim, from your post you should expect a recoverable over payment of your DLA.
