There's a template letter in the Appeal Submissions document. You need to explain why you believe that you meet the criteria for an award,

Have you requested a copy of the assessment report? If not then contact the DWP office dealing with your claim.

Hi Gordon, thank you for your help. We have received the Mandatory reconsideration request, but unfortunately they have decided they can still only award Standard rate PIP. My daughter scored 10 points on the first award. Having done the Mandatory Reconsideration they have now awarded 11 points. I am really considering going to appeal. My daughter has a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (Serious Mental Health Disorder). She has a CPN and a Psychiatrist. She also has a Housing Support Worker. And I am her main Carer. I have full support of the Professionals who will support an appeal. The DWP have not had or asked for all the supporting evidence before making this decision. She was on Higher Rate DLA for years before the change to PIP. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Unfortunately it is not unusual for an MR to fail to revise the award. The extra none point is a throwaway for managing medication.

You cannot take account of the DLA HRC award, it is awarded for fundamentally different reasons than PIP Daily Living and does not imply that a PIP Enhanced DL award should be made.

If you believe that you can show that she should score the 12 points needed for Enhanced DL then you should consider an appeal.

The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.
