considering claim for ESA but would I be worse off was created by davetaylor
hi I hope you can advise. currently im on JSA (income based), standard rate PIP for moving around and also paid a top up in the form a disability premium (as I get the PIP) .. however due to my condition I have been advised.to look into claiming ESA, I do realise that since April new rules apply, I've also read that I would loose my Disability premium if I was awarded ESA. That would make me around £60 worse off as the premium is the bulk of my income?
any thoughts and advice will be most appreciated.

The Disability Premium is not payable with ESA (other Premiums are), it is replaced by the WRAG or Support Group components, however, the former is no longer payable with new claims for ESA, so you would only be better off under ESA if placed in the SG

Thanks for that I had a feeling that would be the case. I’m currently on JSA, awaiting a PIP Mandatory reconsideration result (I was awarded standard moving around and was 2 points or standard daily living) ... I have a sick note for 12 weeks from the dr bit don’t want to loose the £60 per week in disability premium, especially if I stay as I am and the recon goes against me.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing, the disability Premium is £32.55 a week (single) or £46.40 (couple).

Yes sorry my mistake we are, I’m getting mixed up as I’m paid fortnightly. Yes it’s £32 extra per week on top of my JSA.
