Having just contacted my local council about a Blue Badge renewal, I was reading the supporting document verification form provided by the council and struck by how this reflects the incidence of DLA-PIP transitioning applicants who have been downgraded in benefit. The council's form includes Proof of Eligibility check boxes which relate to categories of Blue Badge applicant where
1.Fixed term higher rate mobility component of DLA had previously been awarded, but refused with PIP reassessment and challenged, awaiting DWP reconsideration 2. Indefinite term or lifetime higher rate mobility component of DLA had previously been awarded, but refused with PIP reassessment and challenged, awaiting DWP reconsideration
The fact that these categories of Blue Badge applicants are common enough to be included in a list of check boxes in the council's Blue Badge documentation would indicate the growing number of transitioning claimants being refused or downgraded by DWP.
