I would be grateful for advice please, I need to know where I stand, whether jobcentreplus will postpone workcoach meetings whilst the appeal process is ongoing? (The DWP did not even wait to receive my written mandatory reconsideration letter which I sent (just) within the 30 day deadline of the DWP decision letter moving me from support group to wrag, so I have now received a DWP Reconsideration Notice, that has not even considered my MR letter, stating the decision to move me from support group to wrag remains unchanged and next stage is to go to appeal if I wish to. Citizens Advice will help me appeal the decision, but I have received a Jobcentreplus letter in the post today, asking me to attend a work coach meeting next Wednesday. If I let the jobcentreplus know I will be appealing the decision, will they postpone the workcoach meetings? I will definitely not be able to attend the workcoach meeting next week, but I need to know what happens when an appeal is in process, ie do work coach meetings get postponed until the appeal process has finished? The DWP MR Notice is dated 6th December but I only received it in the post this week, and I have not yet submitted my Notice of Appeal Form SSCS1, but will get help to do this before the 6th January). I need to know where I stand, whether jobcentreplus will postpone workcoach meetings whilst the appeal process is ongoing?

Most JC+ advisors will be practical in dealing with claimants who are appealing the Decision not to be placed in the SG, but it is important to understand that they are under no obligation to do so, if you have been placed in the WRAG then you are required to attend WFIs and to participate in Work Related Activity subject to the limitations resulting from you conditions.
My best advice is for you to contact your advisor and explain the situation to them and see whether they will defer the appointment or hold it over the phone.

Would it help the Workcoach/Advisor if I inform them/copy them the part of the Health Care Professional's Report which advises that I will be likely to have significant problems in leaving my house and significant problems in dealing with unknown people, the HCP further stated that examination/observation confirmed significant impairment of mental function - this aspect and Advice from the Health Care Professional was not acknowledged in the Decision Maker's Reasons - it was totally ignored. I feel that if I copy this part of the Report to the JC+ Advisor, they will understand why I am unable to attend the meeting next week.

It can't hurt, especially as the JC+ staff have no access to this information.
